In this unit, students explore the idea that every family carries its own story. They choose a tradition, celebration, or experience meaningful to their family and gather information by asking a family member and examining a related photo or object.
As students work toward the culminating performance task, they design and build a Story Tile, choosing images, colors, and symbols that connect to their tradition, celebration, or experience. Students explain why their story matters and add their tile to the class's shared Community Story Wall, celebrating their work as storytellers.8
